Yoga for Youth Soccer Players
Elite athletes all over the world practice yoga to enhance performance and prevent injury. Adding yoga to a soccer training program can help your players stay physically healthy and ready to play.
By its explosive nature, soccer builds strong leg muscles. But wtih strength comes tightness. Becuase most players have a dominant leg-planting one foot one side and kicking on the other side repeatedly, their bodies can becomes asymetrical. This can cause many issues with the hips and spine. Yoga can help bring symmetry to the body, easing aches and pains as they arise.

- Build stability around ankles, knees, hips.
- Improve flexibility in the lower body (so injury is less likely).
- Strengthen large muscle groups in the lower half of the body.
- Bring awareness to the upper body: strengthening the core, shoulders and arms, creating a stronger presence on the field.
- Help with balance.
- Provide mental focus.
- Aid in stress relief.
Details:
- 30 or 60 minute sessions available.
- Sessions will take place at soccer field before or after regular practices.
- Cost: $10-15 per player depending on class length, paid prior to session.
- Minimum of 7 students.
- Yoga mat helpful but not required.
- Focus will be standing and seated postures.
- Recommended for ages 13+.
